When a person sentenced to suffer an illness, it was certain that the person will feel sad and struggle against the disease.
That’s what made Bong Tjun Lay, 48, who was sentenced to suffer from diabetes for 38 years. Tjun say, a year before being diagnosed with diabetes, he admitted that he had experienced symptoms of diabetes, such as the addition of appetite, weight loss dramatically, frequent thirst, and frequent urination at night.

Tjun decided to change the pattern of his life after attending a seminar about the complications of diabetes. Tjun started implementing a balanced diet, nutritional counseling, and sports such as gymnastics and walking regularly.
“Education had told the things that we do not know. For example, keep your diet and exercising regularly. Education also prevent me from stress because of the restrictions that come from people who do not understand the right of diabetes,” he said.
“Help and support those closest would make things much easier,” said the man who is now active as a scout diabetes.
How to change the pattern of life that, Tjun finally able to control blood sugar levels within normal limits and free of drugs since 2005.
“Education among patients with diabetes (peer to peer education) is very important, especially as a means to deliver information in order to prevent and treat diabetes. I tried to keep my family not to suffer from diabetes,” he said.
